2-Days Kayak Tour in the Vjosa River Delta – Exploring Nature, Tradition, and Adventure
This two-day kayak tour is designed to immerse you in the untouched connection between the wild beauty of the Vjosa River and the warm hospitality of the local communities. It’s a slow and meaningful journey down Europe’s last wild river, ending on the shores of the Adriatic Sea, and offering a vibrant blend of nature, culture, and authentic tradition.
Due to the unique nature of this route, it’s important to note that the crossing from river to sea depends on weather conditions, especially wind direction and intensity, as well as other natural factors affecting safety. This segment is only carried out when conditions are favorable and always under the supervision of experienced guides.

The first day begins at the Mifol Bridge, where participants are welcomed and prepared for a paddle along one of the most scenic and peaceful sections of the Vjosa River. Over the course of 16 kilometers, we journey through an unspoiled landscape of wetlands, gravel islands, low forests, and rich biodiversity – a true expression of the river’s wild character. By late afternoon, we arrive at a specially selected riverside campsite, where we’ll set up our tents and prepare for a night under the stars.
What makes this night especially memorable is the direct connection with the local people. Dinner is prepared by residents of nearby villages, featuring traditional recipes and fresh, local ingredients etc . As night falls, guests are introduced to one of the region’s oldest fishing techniques – “cike” fishing – a traditional method passed down through generations. The experience reaches its peak with a breathtaking sunset, the sky ablaze with color as the sounds of nature fill the air around the campfire.
The second day begins with a hearty local breakfast, including homemade jams, free-range eggs, milk, and fresh dairy products. After breakfast, we set off once again, paddling downstream toward the river’s meeting point with the Adriatic Sea. This transition from freshwater to saltwater is both rare and exhilarating, as you feel the shift in currents, the change in salinity, and the ocean breeze greeting you at the threshold. Once at sea, we continue paddling for about 5 kilometers along the coast, heading toward the Kallëngë Lagoon, a protected natural area near the village of Delisuf, where silence, wildlife, and natural beauty coexist in perfect balance.
This tour is more than just an outdoor activity. It is a cultural experience and an honest encounter with people who live in rhythm with nature and preserve their traditions with pride. It is a chance to slow down, to listen to stories that flow with the river, and to discover a side of Albania that remains wild and genuine.
If you’re seeking a true adventure that blends nature, culture, and deep connection with the land and its people, this tour is for you. A journey that begins in the heart of the Vjosa River and ends beneath the open skies of the Adriatic Sea – leaving you with memories that will last a lifetime.
